Clare Holland House
Your Stay
You need to bring comfortable clothes for day and night, including night gowns, pyjamas, day clothes, tracksuits, footwear. You should also bring toiletries and other cosmetic and grooming types of things.
You are also encouraged to bring small personal items such as photos, radio, books, magazines, a plant, your bedspread or quilt and special pillow. If you have a special pet that is house trained, talk to the staff to see if it is ok that they visit. We have had many dogs and cats visiting over the years.
Unfortunately there is not enough space at Clare Holland House for patients to bring large personal items during their stay.
For administrative purposes, you must also bring your Medicare card, pension card, and health fund details if you elect to be a private patient.
What can we offer you as an inpatient at Clare Holland House?
Pain and
symptom management
For some
patients a short stay and period of treatment at Clare Holland House may allow
their condition to stabilise and they can then return to home or their normal
care arrangement.
Holistic end
of life care
At other
times, people are admitted as their illness progresses and they are close to
dying and it has become more difficult to manage at home. Admission at this
stage provides holistic care for the patient and family and reduces the carer's
workload. It can relieve stress on the family, allowing time and space to do
what is important, and to nurture the relationships within the family.
Respite
Limited
respite places are available for two weeks at a time. These need to be booked
well in advance.
Relatives and
loved ones
At Clare
Holland House we strive to create a home like environment which is welcoming
and supportive. Family and friends can be as involved in your care as you want
them to be. However, your privacy, safety and quality of care are paramount and
family and friends will be instructed and assisted when they become involved in
your care.
